The Gaumont was originally Called the Regent. It was a large cinema in Barkers Pool

Some of it's original features included :-

A Marble Staircase
A Cut Glass Candelabra
A Georgian Tea Room
Lounges With Frescoes Of Moonlit Italian Gardens
A 25 Piece Uniformed Orchestra
A good sized stage for live productions
A number of dressing rooms
A Wurlitzer organ
5000 concealed electric bulbs in the huge auditorium

Now available on Line, a collection of photos taken in the 1930s of film and show displays and staff in fancy dress

This Building is most famous for it's description
by Prince Charles as, " A Monsterous Carbuncle on the face of the 4th city of England "
It Was Origionally Built As The Odeon Cinema, on The Former Gaumont Site
It Is Now The Kingdom Nightclub
