Mel Galley 60 Born on the 8th of March 1948 ago . English guitarist, most famously in Whitesnake, where he sustained an arm injury when Adrian Vandenburg landed on his arm in a fairground in Germany. Later he had unsucessful surgery to repair his arm which left him unable to play guitar. He developed a claw attachment which enabled his fingers to work gutar frets again which enabled him to continue his musical career in other bands. He died of throat cancer on the 1st of July 2008.
Jim Capaldi 60 (born Nicola James Capaldi) Founder member of traffic, and Drummer, Songwriter and Vocalist, who collaborated with Bob Marley, Eric CLapton, and George Harrison Died of stomach cancer on Jan 28th 2005. He was born 24th August 1944, and by now he would be aged
Mitch Mitchell 61 Explosive british drummer most famous for his work with the Jimi Hendrix Experience. He was also sucessful earlier when he was with Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames and featured on several sucessful hits. His drumming style was fusion which mixed elements of jazz and rock, he was a pioneer of this style especially prominent with lead drum parts which became a fundamental part of the Hendrix Sound. He died of natural causes after playing a gig on the 12th of November 2008. He was born on 9th of July 1947 and would be aged if he was still alive today.

at the height of the heavy rock genre, throughout the 1980s. He also appeared
at Donnington Rock festival where rock fans "affectionately" used
to throw bottles at him, which lead him to wear a helmet on stage from then
on, He was a regular presenter on Top Of The Pops. His unmistakably gravely
voice led him onto TV adverts for shaving products, and he also presented
rock shows on VH1, a satelite music television channel. A couple of generations
of rockers learned all about rock music from him, he will be sadly missed.

He was born on the 20th of August 1942 and had a long career as a supremely infuencial soul artist, especially at a Stax records and for his later movie soundtracks including "Shaft". John Peel 65 Legendary DJ and Radio presenter. The world was shocked to hear of his death on 26th October 2004 from a heart attack whilst on a working holiday in Peru. John worked for the BBC for 37 years, was there right at the start of Radio 1 and was instrumental in the promotion of interesting new music. Derek Dooley MBE 78 Sheffield Football Hero. A prolific goalscorer who avaraged over a goal a game during his professional career in the top flight of british football. Sadly his career was cut short after 7 years when he broke his leg and later lost it due to gangrene at 23 years of age in 1953. He was born on the 13th of December 1929, ago and died 5th of March 2008 after collapsing at home. He later became manager of Sheffield Wednesday 1971 to 1973 but they sacked him on christmas eve 1973 and many Sheffield Wednesday fans considered this to be one of the most shameful acts of their football club. After this he changed his allegence to Sheffield United and took up many roles in the club management until his retirement.
