21st Century Bikes

I know I was last talking about a dirty old rat bike, but finances dictated an opportunity to purchase something better and a deal more satisfactory.

This Is my Suzuki SV650

It has a torquey 90° V twin engine, and makes an excellent roaring sound when accelerating from 40 - 60 MPH from lowish revs in a high gear. What Fun!

This model is extremely popular, and there have been thousands of them sold in the whole of Europe in the last six years. The feeling for naked, fairing free bikes is strong, especially as some of the modern small bikes come in full race plastics and average people often cannot tell what is a little learner bike and what is a larger engined sports bike.

Bought from a local dealer, this Bike, although a few years old is only just run in, having only 2000 miles on the clock.

First impressions after only a couple of hundred miles is that the SV650 has an excellent chassis which gives light and forgiving handling. The forks seem to get a bit of a battering on the apalling Sheffield roads, they seem to give a noisy banging sound when you go in and out of the potholes, maybe I should get the recommended progressive fork springs which are a recommended upgrade.

This was taken when I stopped at the big island car park at the and of Saltergate in Chesterfield. I thought it was a good place to capture the bike with the Chesterfield cathedral twisted spire in the background.
