just checked your site out 7 it brought some great memoriers back.
I use to be a regular in the Wop, Nelson & Penthouse between 78--81. I remember when Penthouse first closed down & us rockers were left with nowhere to go for after hours drinkingat the weekend. So one of the regulars in the Wap ran a rock disco at Stars, which was above Silver Blades skating rink. Altho it was not a regular event it was very popular. As I remember it was ran as a ticket only & advertised purelly word of mouth in the Waqp & Nelson.

P.S. Can you remember the glass collector from Penthouse.Mad Shirl we used to call her, she used togo crazy when Deep Purple was played

Looking through a site i knew nought about until yesterday sadly after Andy Bownes funeral had taken place. I knew mad shirl as she was known during penthouse /rebels days. She was my best friend then and I can assure you that she is still alive and kicking. Still mad on Deep Purple and she can still be found in the Nelson every so often with boyfriend tony and friends Gina and ken usually to be found upstairs by the steps .Also caught site of Martin Bellamy in the classic rock bar page he's also still alive and kicking altho he's married now and he hasn't changed a bit. last saw him about 3 years ago and he hasn't changed much at all a bit fatter these days but just the same

The Limit Final Ticket - Jan 19th 1991

James, who was from Stockbridge, sent in this scan of the ticket he has kept from the last ever night at the limit. The ticket cost £10, they were normally £3, but on this occasion the booze was free.!

I have photos of the Sheffield Uni Heavy Metal society on the annual pyjama jump circa 1981 and 82... we usually ended up at Rebels, but these photos are in one of the pubs. (Notty House at Broomhill?)

I was the publicity person in the Sheffield Uni HM society even though I wasn't actually a student at the Uni at the time
