the girls are Jan and Sandie ( sisters) Rachael and Sarah (sisters) Lindsey and Annette , whom have been best friends from the eighties to present day
I'll Let Jan introduce her feelings about the Wapentake Bar : -
Where would
life be without the WOP. Olga was wonderful.. great landlady , she loved
the rockers and we loved her. Her son Gary always had a smile on his
face , infact all the bar staff were fab. In a haze of Jack Daniels we would boogie the night away meeting lots of friends. we would wear weird and wonderful get ups - the backcombed hair, lycra trousers, scarf round the legs, silk jackets - denim and leather... I feel a song coming on!! Best memories were when Def Leppard played their acoustic set and Christmas. My memories of the rock scene are filled with both happiness and sadness. Happiness for the wonderful people and friends I have made along the way who have shaped my life. Rock folk are the best, easy to get on with , genuine and warm with a love of life and music. |

As Mentioned above, Def Leppard played the Wap and Jan was one of the lucky people with a pass to see this bit of local rock history, here it is. |

Here We have a shot of Ken, the long serving Wapentake DJ Ken always stuck rigidly to Vinyl for most of the wap days, and as you can see here he was using his old style disco set up for playing all those favourite rock classics. The sound in those days was always a little wooly, and the loudspeakers looked as if they seen rather a lot of decades of faithful service. Where he set up was originally a food serving counter, and he used to take people's coats and put them at the back on a shelf at the side of his record collection. For safe keeping, it was often quite hot down in the Wap.
Roy about Ken : -
I seem to remember Ken
quite liking looking after the coats of some of the prettier girls
