The girls say about The Yorkshireman's Arms: -
We all miss
the YORKSHIREMAN. Sandie and Annette used to dee-jay on Thursday nights
as the "Sex Kittens" playing lots of Cinderella , Faster Pussycat,
etc. It was dark with great bar staff and in summer you could chill
out in the "beer garden" outside. |

Here We Have a couple of shots from Under The Boardwalk
Under the Boardwalk was where lots of rock people went after the Casbah moved away from the classic rock which it had been famous for as the Wapentake Bar over the previous 3 decades. For a few years you could go down and see lots of old Wap faces, even Ken the Wap DJ was playing his favourite vinyl at the far end, but this time with a huge sound system and seemingly about 10,000 records. I went in one time and he seemed to have endless record boxes right across the floor. Ken was famous for his love of some of the more unusual and challenging recordings in the rock cannon. . Adding to a genuine "Wap feel" there was even a table football machine in a corner behind the bar. |
