VistaSheffield - Views And Information
Sheffield is the fourth largest city in England. After London, Birmingham and Leeds. It is also the greenest city with more public parks, and tree lined avenues per head than any other city in the whole of the UK.
Many outsiders imagine the city to be choked with factories and industrial decline, but nothing could be further from the truth. The city is vibrant and cosmopolitan, and has the highest student population in Britain outside London. And a recent survey, published by Virgin early 2000, found that student life was more rewarding in Sheffield, than Leeds, Cambridge, Manchester and London.
May 2003:- Much of the spare land that used to be taken up with broken old industrial pemises on the outskirts of the city centre is now brand new apartments. Some are designated for students and some are luxury professional duplex apartments with on site sauna, car parking gym etc. In fact there is such a growth in this sector that the city centre is vastly different from just 3 years ago.
The population of Sheffield grew very rapidly through the early and mid 20th century, but faltered a little during the industrial slowdown of the 70's and 80's. But through the 1990's and naughties! ( 00's ), The city has blossomed, cleaned up, regenerated, and expanded with gusto. Many visitors, Footballers, Students, come for a career move and stay here for life! So wap out the Henderson's Relish, and toast that Fletcher's bread, for a web jamboree that's the best thing since sliced bread!
