The Abbey At Woodseats Sheffield
- At  - Your - Leisure - Interview - Sunday 14th November 1999 -

I recently met up with Chris again and had the opportunity to ask him some remaining questions. By this time we were getting quite well oiled. And were having to shout out quite loud at each other, because they were having a very annoying pub quiz. With loads of stupid soap opera questions being blasted out, with striking regularity. As it was Remembrance Sunday ( quite apt " see Winscale Discography " ), we carried on and plugged away with the good old Dunkirk Spirit.

Me - When and what was the occasion of your first meeting with Winscale?
Chris - He tried to pick me up outside The Limit nightclub, I think he was looking for a bit of rough, and seemed  very nervous.

Me - What are your primary musical influences?
Chris - Only Badfinger and Leonard Cohen.

Me - What is your favourite room in the house?
Chris - The Nobhead Room - where the dog goes to be alone, interestingly he is fully aware that he cannot get out of this room under his own steam. It also smells of Old men and Paxo.

Me - Where did you first meet steve?
Chris - Underneath a wig, at the Polish equivalent of the Rotary Club

Me - Are you considering any more projects with the Filth **
Chris - I have never been impressed by the filthy tramp, until last night, and I am now considering recording the only decent thing he's ever written.

Me - Which alcoholic beverage would you be able to drink the most of in one session?
Chris - Advocaat.

Me - Have you ever been caught with woman's underwear when out and about
Chris - My well documented interest in women's underwear has diminished significantly, as has my penchant for older women. No longer does nylon feel like flesh to me.

Me - Do you still do P.A.'s?
Chris - Occasionally, But I do find bands EXTRAORDINARILY TEDIOUS, . . . people like dead musicians best don't they?

Note - At this point in the proceedings the level of the conversation sunk somewhat, owing to the amount of skirt that had just arrived in the pub, and as a consequence, there is nothing else that I could possibly record, due to the language used etc..

** The filth is an affectionate name for Captain Winscale
